All you need to bring is your camera and a lens in the portrait range (e.g., 50mm, 85mm, or a zoom lens). We will be using studio lighting, which will be provided, so you won't need to bring your own flash heads. Please also bring fully charged batteries and plenty of memory cards.
Is this workshop suitable for beginners?
This workshop is best suited for aspiring and intermediate photographers who are comfortable with their camera's manual settings (aperture, shutter speed, ISO). A basic understanding of lighting is helpful but not required.
Is lunch provided?
Yes, a delicious lunch and refreshments will be provided.
Will I get dedicated time to shoot with the models?
Yes, the workshop is structured to ensure every attendee gets ample, dedicated time to shoot and receive one-on-one feedback. We will be working with two professional models to ensure a great photographer-to-model ratio.
Do I get to keep the images I shoot?
Yes, all the images you take during the workshop are yours to keep. You are free to use them for your portfolio, website, and social media.

Class sizes are strictly limited to ensure a high-quality, personalized experience for everyone. The UK workshop is limited to five photographers, and the Vienna workshop is limited to ten.

More than 30 days before the workshop: You are eligible for a full refund of any payment made.Within 30 days of the workshop: All payments are non-refundable. However, if you are able to find a replacement to take your spot, a refund will be issued to you once the new attendee's payment is received.Unexpected Cancellation: We highly recommend that you purchase travel insurance to protect against unexpected cancellations due to personal emergencies, illness, or travel disruptions. We cannot offer refunds for these unforeseen circumstances.Cancellation by the Organizer
In the unlikely event that Alex Kilbee must cancel the workshop, you will be notified at the earliest possible date. You will have the option to receive a full refund of all payments made or to transfer your payment toward a future workshop. This two-day workshop is an immersive journey from concept to finished, portfolio-ready images.
Day One: The Foundations of Light & Colour
We'll begin with a deep dive into making studio lighting simple, followed by a hands-on session with our models. The day will conclude with a practical introduction to post-production and color grading to refine your images.
Day Two: The Art of Black and White
The second day focuses on shooting specifically for black and white, using lighting and composition to create dramatic, high-contrast portraits. We'll end the workshop with a final hands-on session and a valuable portfolio review.
